The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night to take a 3-0 lead in the World Series.

The victory secured the team's first championship opportunity in franchise history. They now need one more win to close out the series. The Brewers outscored the Rays 18-7 over the first three games. They hit only one home run during that span.

Manager Pat Murphy emphasized that the team remains grounded. He noted that Tampa Bay is a capable opponent that played hard all year. The Brewers rely on a grinding style of offense rather than long balls. This approach helped them win 103 games in the regular season and 10 in the playoffs.

Brice Turang started the decisive rally with a two-run single off the glove of shortstop Taylor Walls. The Brewers then strung together seven straight hits at one point. This streak set a new postseason record for consecutive two-out hits. The fifth inning lasted 25 minutes before the Brewers scored eight runs.

Rookie left-hander Robert Gasser pitched six shutout innings. He allowed only one hit and faced the minimum number of batters. He became the first left-handed pitcher to do so in at least six World Series innings since Sandy Koufax in 1965. His postseason ERA stands at 0.60 over 15 innings.

Brandon Woodruff closed the game with three outs. The 33-year-old veteran returned to the mound for the first time since injuring his shoulder on July 4. He is the longest-tenured player on the roster. Woodruff said he has not participated in a playoff game since 2021.

Jackson Chourio recorded four hits in the game. William Contreras added three hits, bringing his postseason total to 18. That number is the highest in Milwaukee playoff history. The Rays, playing their first home World Series game since 2008, acknowledged the Brewers' performance. Third baseman Junior Caminero stated through an interpreter that the Brewers are playing better and things are going their way.
