More than 4,000 people wearing pink filled parking lots B and C at Camden Yards on Saturday, October 24, for the 25th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The event raised funds for research and patient support through the American Cancer Society.
The walk was one of several community gatherings held over the weekend of October 24 and 25. The American Cancer Society organized the event, which marked its silver anniversary. Participants walked the grounds of the sports complex to support local patients and research initiatives.
Other charitable events took place in the same timeframe. The 22nd annual BARCStoberfest, organized by the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, was held in Cherry Hill. The family-oriented festival included pet activities and raised money for animal rescue operations.
The 30th annual Port to Fort 6K race also occurred during the weekend. Hundreds of runners participated in the event, following historic routes through Baltimore. The race is a traditional fundraiser that has been held in the city for three decades.
Entertainment venues hosted major productions during the period. The Baltimore Soundstage in the Inner Harbor hosted a sold-out comedy show by Jordan Jensen on Saturday night. The theater also closed the weekend with performances of SIX The Musical, a Broadway production that had recently toured local stages.
The Great Baltimore Lantern Parade illuminated Patterson Park on Saturday night. The parade marked the start of the community's autumn festivities. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens played the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium. Fans gathered in the surrounding streets for tailgate parties before the game.
Weather conditions across the Maryland region were clear and mild during the weekend. The pleasant autumn temperatures allowed residents to participate in outdoor festivals and park activities without rain or extreme cold.
